Celebrating that California Supreme Court Overturns Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

The lesbian and gay people of the state are still walking around in a sense of happiness and pride that we can get married. Someone claimed that this means that lesbian and gay people have more extensive rights than women have in the state of California, but I am not sure how.

Although the bubbles of champagne is bubbling in our veins, the LGBT people are concerned about the ballot initiative that may appear on the ballots November 4: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Then the interesting question becomes: what happens with the marriages taking place till then? (The ones from 2004 are annulled by the Supreme Court.) At the same time, the Governator has said that he will not fight the decision by the Supreme Court, and that he is negative to the ballot initiative.

Yesterday, my university issued a news release where yours truly is participating.

And my Swedish registered partner have found that this marriage license is available also for non-residents, as is. So,

YES, let's get married!
