Seattle trip

This weekend we have been on an extended weekend trip to the state of Washington, visiting Seattle. This was my birthday gift from my husband. Previously we had both changed planes up there, but had never really seen the city.

A second reason for me to visit the city was to figure out how I liked it if I were to try to do a post-doc in the United States and I could not continue at my present one. The University of Washington [website][wiki] is a competitor at the top as the best university in the US in nursing.

We stayed at a really nice hotel: Inn at the Market that was suggested to us by a class mate of mine. It was a place we definitely will return to if we need a hotel in Seattle.

Beside eating good food (a lot of fish), we visited the Seattle Central Library [homepage][wiki] designed by Rem Koolhaas. THe library is a fascinating building with its sharp angels. We also visited the gay area Capitol Hill, the art museum, and the original Starbucks - Starbucks one on Pike Place Market.

Beside the fact that it snowed - my first experience of snow this winter season! - Seattle was a city we can consider returning to - but having a coffee at Seattle's best... Laughing
