The deacons within the Church of Sweden in Stockholm report that more and more families turn to the church/parishes for financial support. This shout-out comes the days before Christmas, a time where the divisions in society become very obvious. They claim that the social support services in the city actively refer people to the churches for help for anything that is beyond the norm.

The County Council in Stockholm have presented the ideas of a new hospital in Stockholm. It has been names "New Karolinska Solna" - I hope they will do some more thinking later and come up with something just a tad more exciting... 
As it is now, there is one Karolinska University Hospital, but with two sites: Huddinge and Solna. The hospital was formed a few years ago when the two Huddinge University Hospital and the Karolinska Hospital were brought together to one.
The idea is that the patients will have their own rooms at the new hospital. It is said/hoped to bring a more patient centered and patient focused care.
The hospital will be built next to the old Karolinska Hospital in Solna. It will create, together with new living quarters and research ares, a new part of Stockholm. It will be built over one of the major highways that go through Stockholm. The project is facing criticism though from many stake holders.

The Swedish female soldiers in the Nordic Battlegroup protested against the endowments of the heraldic lion that
was part of the coat of arms on the uniform. It has now been decided that the genitalia of the lion will be removed; snip, snip!
